Founder and hands-on CEO of the organization that began as a weekly fiction reading series.

I started it as a solo-venture, and then built in many directions. I managed and trained a staff of volunteers that topped out at 22 people, with me directly working on or acting as the primary manager of the committee for:

Monthly author development seminars and workshops

Book and web publishing lines

Podcasts

Organizing and hosting reading tracks and sales events at national conventions and trade shows, including half a tent at six Printers Row Book Fairs, World Fantasy Conventions & World Horror Conventions.

Led the committee that secured non-profit and tax exempt status for the group.

Chaired monthly board meetings. 1993-2007


NEWSPAPER REPORTER/EDITOR (full-time paid internships)

Bee/Star & Ottumwa Courier newspapers in West Point, IA & Ottumwa, IA.

Worked full-time as the only editorial staff member of the Bee/Star, a small weekly newspaper; duties included all writing and editing, photography, darkroom production, and newspaper layout, May ’86-May ’87.

Worked as full-time reporter for the daily Ottumwa Courier, May ’87-Sept. ’87.
